Who I am and where I am from

“This drawing depicts my journey towards something I can call security. Every mountain is an obstacle that I have overcome, and the sun on the horizon is a symbol of hope. The house reminds me of what I long for – a place where I will be calm and carefree again.”
2: „Noćna tišina i snovi o slobodi“
“This picture depicts my inner world. The mountains are obstacles I need to overcome, but the moonlight reminds me that there is always light, even in the darkest of nights. The red tree is a part of me – my past, my roots and my strength.”
3: „Moj san o domu uz jezero“
“This is a picture of my ideal – a place where I would like to live. The house by the water and the birds in the sky remind me of the freedom and peace I seek. The mountains remind me of the obstacles I have overcome to reach my goal.”
4 Sirija – “Dom koji pamtim”
“This was our house before the war. The walls told the stories of generations that lived there. Although it is now destroyed, in my heart it remains my true home.”
5 Avganistan – “Zemlja brda i snova”
“From here I could see my whole world – the village in the valley and the people working the land. The book in my hands reminds me of my dream to become a teacher, even far away from home.”

“This mosque is the place where I came to pray with my family as a child. The smell of saffron and the sound of the call to prayer remind me of warm family moments which I now carry with me.”

“There is no school in my village any more, but I carry this bag with me because I believe that education can change my future. Pencils are my means to a better life.”

“My years in this country are over. I may be far away now, but the memories of our customs and traditions follow me everywhere I go.”

Ovo je bio prvi deo mog puta – kroz beskrajnu pustinju gde je svaki korak bio izazov. Bezbroj zvezda
noću na nebu bile su jedina uteha i nada da postoji bolje sutra.

“I dream of a home where we will all be together, with no fear and no need to keep looking over our shoulders. Where children’s laughter will be our daily music, and peace will become our reality.”

“I dream of going back to school. To carry on where I left off, to one day become an engineer or a doctor. I want to learn and to create a better world for my family.”

“I see myself living in a city where everyone is equal. Where I can work, live and study without prejudice. Where my abilities will be more important than where I come from.”
4 Sigurnost i sloboda
“I dream of a future in which my child will grow up free, where he won’t have to worry about war or borders. Where we will all be welcome regardless of our origins.”

“I want to be part of the world of knowledge. To finish university, and serve as an example that dreams can become reality, regardless of where we come from.”
